Usual Pattern for Worship


Standard Church Services In Upper Derwent Benefice

Our normal pattern of services at church is varied. It is based on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sundays in each month. From time to time we have some Special Services which interrupt this pattern, especially around Christmas, Easter and Holy Week, Rogation Sunday etc. Please check the “Latest Updates” tab for up to date details (venue, date & time).

1st Sunday of the month

8.00 am BCP Communion at St Stephen’s, Snainton

9.30 am Holy Eucharist at St Matthew’s, Hutton Buscel

10.00 am Holy Eucharist at All Saints, Brompton

2.30 pm Evening Prayer at St Peter’s, Langdale End

6.30 pm BCP Evensong at All Saints, Wykeham.

2nd Sunday of the month

8.00 am BCP Communion at St Matthew’s, Hutton Buscel

9.30 am Holy Eucharist at All Saints, Wykeham

11.00 am Holy Eucharist at St Stephen’s, Snainton

11.00 am BCP Matins at All Saints, Brompton.

3rd Sunday of the month

8.00 am BCP Communion at All Saints, Wykeham

9.30 am Holy Eucharist at All Saints, Brompton

11.00 am Holy Eucharist at St Matthew’s, Hutton Buscel

6.30 pm (4.30 pm in wintertime) Ecumenical Evensong at St Stephen’s, Snainton – alternating with 10.30 am Ecumenical Service at Snainton Methodist Church.

4th Sunday of the month

8.00 am BCP Communion at All Saints, Brompton

9.30 am Holy Eucharist at St Stephen’s, Snainton

11.00 am Holy Eucharist at All Saints, Wykeham

6.30 pm BCP Evensong at St Matthew’s, Hutton Buscel.

*5th Sunday of the month

When there are five Sunday in a month, the fifth Sunday is a special Benefice Service which takes place at 10.30 am at one of our churches (see Events Calendar for details).

Telephone Services: Daily Hope

The Church of England has setup a national phone line offering music, prayers and reflections, as well as full worship services, all at the end of a telephone line.

The line – which is available 24 hours a day on 0800 804 8044 – has been set up particularly with those unable to join online church services during the current COVID-19 restrictions. 


Local Virtual Church Services

Our Vicar, Revd Joe Kinsella is broadcasting his virtual church services online at 10am via YouTube every Sunday.

Church Offering

To ensure each church and The Diocese of York can continue to pay their essential bills and remain financially viable, your church offering can now be made: by debit card online (opted in PCC’s only), by bacs (click on your church for their bank details: BromptonWykehamLangdale EndSnainton and Hutton Buscel), in cash when your church building is open or by sending a cheque to your Church Warden.  Thank you
