Family history / church archive research is a vastly popular pastime and it can lead you on a fantastic journey into history.
We are receiving an increasing number of enquiries about parish records from days gone by from people wishing to either come and look at them or for us to provide information from old marriage registers and baptism records. Sadly we cannot help you with historic records as the only records/parish registers we hold are generally the ones that are in current use.
In-line with Church of England guidance each Parish Secretary deposits our records that are no longer in day to day use (past: PCC minutes, Annual Charity Report, photographs, Quinquennial Inspection Reports, newspaper articles, Baptism/Wedding/Burial registers etc) to be archived, to ensure they are kept safe for many generations to come and they can be easily accessed centrally at the County Records Office.
If you would like information on our past records your best port of call for this area is Northallerton Records Office. If you are unable to visit the records office in person some documents are available online.
We also provide information to Church Care Heritage Records, which is an online, free to access, national database of every Church of England place of worship, which includes photographs, reports, Faculty Applications and much more. Please click here to find out more.
